Tesla Defies European Slump With Norway Sales Surge

The first half of 2025 saw Norwegian Tesla sales increase by 24% while most European markets experienced significant declines due to negative reactions toward CEO Elon Musk. The European market position of Tesla has shifted to second place in Norway while Germany and Sweden and Denmark and the Netherlands experienced delivery reductions of 50% or worse.

The majority of Norwegian Tesla buyers choose the company’s charging network and technological features over their reservations about Musk’s right-wing political views and his endorsement of Donald Trump’s 2024 US election victory. The charging infrastructure combined with seamless technology stands as the main reason Espen Lysholm purchased his third Tesla Model Y in May.

Tesla started its Norwegian operations in 2013 when it launched the Model S and built its first North American Supercharger network outside of North America. The Norwegian market shows EVs dominate new car sales at 94% while Tesla frequently leads the sales rankings.

The market of Norway stands as a vital demonstration of Tesla’s operations despite generating less than 12% of European sales and minimal global revenue. The company maintains its Norwegian market dominance through sustained success despite European car vandalism incidents and customer brand changes due to Musk’s political views.
