A White House official announced that Apple plans to dedicate $100 billion for U.S. manufacturing development initiatives which represents one of the biggest domestic production commitments from a technology company. The new commitment emerges as President Donald Trump continues to advocate for manufacturing reshoring through his trade policies and tariff strategies.
The new investment will expand Apple’s existing $500 billion four-year U.S. spending plan which includes building an AI server factory in Texas and creating 20,000 R&D positions across the nation.
The $800 million cost from Trump’s tariffs during the June quarter led Apple to establish new supply chain operations in India for iPhone production and manufacturing facilities in Vietnam for Macs and Apple Watches. The White House declared this announcement as a victory for both U.S. industry and national security.
